Understanding Early Literacy Skills & Instruction
(Class Duration: 2.0 Hours Training Hrs Earned: 2.0 Hours)
Participants in this class will become more knowledgeable about how literacy (speaking, listening, writing, & reading) emerges in young children. They will learn specific literacy activities, games, materials and interactions that foster and increase literacy development and how to incorporate them into their classrooms. Participants will have the opportunity to "make & take" new literacy activities/games/props for use in their classroom!
Now This is Art!
(Class Duration: 2.0 Hours Training Hrs Earned: 2.0 Hours)
Participants in this class will explore the differences between project art, open ended art and free art. They will learn the benefits of opened ended art and free art verses project art. Participants will also learn the environmental rating scale requirements (ITERS, ECERS, SACERS) for art centers and art related displays. Teachers will have the opportunity to evaluate their own classroom art centers/displays and make an improvement plan for their classroom. Age appropriate art materials will be discussed along with ideas for free art, open ended art, 3-dimensional art and multi-day art! This is a highly interactive class with lots of hands on art experiences/demonstrations.

This is a mini-version of the class above (has less demonstration and does not allow time during the class for classroom evaluations) . Participants in this class will explore the differences between project art, open ended art and free art. They will learn the benefits of opened ended art and free art verses project art. Sensational Science for Preschoolers!

Participants in this class will discover the purpose of science in the preschool classroom by exploring the skills children learn and develop through their participation in science activities. They will learn how to set up interesting and educational science centers that meet the environmental rating scale requirements (ITERS, ECERS, SACERS) for science centers/activities. Teachers will have the opportunity to evaluate their own science centers/activities and make an enhancement plan for their classroom. Age appropriate science materials will be discussed. Most importantly, this class will explain & demonstrate numerous fun and simple science experiments specifically designed for preschoolers!

Participants in this class will learn how to create fun, educational and highly interactive circle times for their preschoolers and the importance of doing so! The main goal of this class is to highlight the best books, flannel board stories, songs, props and games that are best for group time and how to use them most effectively. Environmental rating scale requirements (ITERS, ECERS, SACERS) and age appropriate expectations for circle time (group time) will be discussed. A large portion of this class will be spent on demonstration and giving participants the opportunity to make new activities/games/props for use during their circle time!

The main goal of this class is to highlight the best books, flannel board stories, songs, props and games that are best for group time and how to use them most effectively. Environmental rating scale requirements (ITERS, ECERS, SACERS) and age appropriate expectations for circle time (group time) will be discussed. A portion of this class will be spent on making new activities/games/props for use during their circle time!
Flannel Board Frenzy!

Participants in this class will learn the benefits of using flannel board stories as a method of storytelling with young children! Teachers will discover how to use flannel boards successfully with their individual age group. Teachers will watch a demonstration of both a flannel board story from a book and from a song. Teachers will receive a list of several books/songs that are well suited for flannel board stories. Participants will spent a large portion of this class making new flannel board stories for their center/classroom!

Participants in this class will discover the important role music and movement actitivies play in helping young children grow and develop. Participants will learn how to successfully incorporate these activities into their classrooms. Environmental rating scale requirements (ITERS, ECERS, SACERS) and age appropriate expectations for music/movement activities will be discussed. A large portion of this class will be spent on sharing/demonstrating our favorite music and movement activities.
Parachute Play!
(Class Duration: 1.0 Hour Training Hrs Earned: 1.0 Hour)
Participants in this class will learn the benefits of parachute play with young children! Teachers will discover how to use the parachute successfully with their individual age group and will be actively involved in learning the best parachute games/songs/activities. A large portion of this class will be spent on demonstration!
